Paul's story

In 2017 Paul was in a wake boarding accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Following the accident, Paul was unable to eat, talk or walk. He has been recovering ever since and with the help of family, friends, carers and therapists, he has become more independent.

Prior to Paul’s accident, he was working in a medical research role. Since his ongoing recovery, Paul is determined to encourage others to have a fulfilling experience after similar situations. Paul wants to inspire others to realise that with a bit of hope, positivity and determination, you can do anything that you set your mind to.

After the accident Paul was not given much hope of survival or a full recovery. However, through his own determination and support, he survived and grew in his capabilities.

Paul has presented professionally in sharing his journey through producing a podcast called Beyond The Impact; Paul's Recovery Story. He has also previously been involved in speech pathology research, presentations and an interview with Speech Pathology Australia.

This photo was taken walking on the beach in Port Douglas in 2023, on my first holiday since my accident.
